Madonna Re-Invents the N-Word

The Queen of Reinvention has taken her vocation to a whole new level.

Madonna found herself in hot water over the weekend after posting an Instagram pic of her 13 year old son Rocco accompanied by the hashtag “#disni**a”

In a perplexing lapse of judgment on Friday Madonna posted the pic of her son boxing with the caption “No one messes with Dirty Soap! Mama said knock you out! #disni**a.”  And, after receiving a wave of insta-backlash, re-posted the image with the new caption, “Ok let me start this again #getoffmydickhaters

It’s a little difficult to believe that someone so media aware as Madonna, who has two black children of her own, could gaffe so hard (on Martin Luther King, Jr weekend, of all weekends) and then claim no foul.  Nope.  After all, she’s spent her entire career systematically courting controversy and this isn’t her first instance of race baiting.  It’s not even her second!  Or Third!!In a statement to the media Madonna insisted that she was not a racist and she meant it as a term of endearment.  Sort of like when Paula Deen did it?

“I am sorry if I offended anyone with my use of the N word on Instagram. It was not meant as a racial slur.. I am not a racist. There’s no way to defend the use of the word. It was all about intention… It was used as a term of endearment toward my son who is white. I appreciate that it’s a provocative word and I apologize if it gave people the wrong impression. Forgive me.”

At 55, however, her decision making apparatus may just be showing signs of wear and tear.  Her last appearance on SNL certainly makes a pretty strong case for it.
